NAB Executive Team

Rob McCleland

Rob McCleland, Ph D., Executive Director, CEO

Rob grew up in a single parent home in the small community of Oroville, CA.   At age 10, a neighborhood family invited him to attend AWANA meetings at a local church.  At an AWANA camp, Rob prayed when a counselor shared with him how he could respond to Jesus’ offer of salvation. Although he attended church with friends when invited, Rob’s family did not participate.

Rob’s life-changing spiritual experience came in his third year at California State University in Sacramento. He was invited to a Campus Crusade for Christ retreat where he heard the gospel again and realized his great need to be forgiven. He also realized the Savior had met his need, and that he was loved and could be forgiven. Rob recalled his prayer at the AWANA camp a decade earlier and believes God had been patiently pursuing him for years.

From that point on, Rob’s life was changed. He immersed himself in discipleship opportunities, including Bible studies, church groups, and campus ministry opportunities.  Rob soon began to prepare for ministry by assuming leadership positions at church and on campus, and then by attending seminary classes during the summer while completing his undergraduate degree.  In that time his life changed again when he met his wife, Dawn, who served on the staff of Campus Crusade.

Together, Rob and Dawn have served in pastoral ministry in four churches (Montana, Washington, New Jersey, and Oregon), including roles as youth, executive, and senior pastor. Rob completed a Graduate Internship with Dr. Howard Hendricks at Dallas Theological Seminary and continued in the area of Kingdom leadership development having served as Vice President of the Christian and Missionary Alliance, as Dean of Nyack College on Capitol Hill in Washington D.C., and as Executive Director of the Let Them Hear Foundation in Palo Alto, CA an international medical foundation. Rob holds an earned Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership from Regent University; where his dissertation focus was executive coaching.

Rob and Dawn have one daughter, Kaylie.

Norm PoehlkeNorm Poehlke, Vice President of Ministry Outreach

Norm grew up attending Ebenezer Baptist Church of Vancouver, BC, and it was there that he came to know Christ as Savior. It was at North American Baptist College (now Taylor University College and Seminary) in Edmonton, AB where Norm met Melissa, whom he would later marry. Norm and Melissa celebrate 27 years of marriage and have three children.

After graduating from Regent College in Vancouver, Norm accepted his first full-time ministry position as a youth pastor at Meadowlark Baptist Church in Edmonton (West Meadows). After five years of youth ministry, he accepted the invitation to serve College Heights Baptist Church in Prince George, BC.

Through the gracious support and patience of this congregation, Norm was shaped as a Senior Pastor. After six years in Prince George, Norm accepted an invitation to plant at church in Calgary, AB and served what became McKenzie Towne Church for ten years.  At McKenzie they saw the miracles that follow obedience.
